מועצת העיר St. John's העבירה ב-7 באוקטובר 2025 החלטה המורה לעירייה לכתוב לראש הממשלה, לראש ממשלת המחוז ולחברי פרלמנט וסנאטורים מקומיים כדי "Support a two-way arms embargo on Israel, halting military equipment transfers to or from Canada" (לתמוך באמברגו נשק דו-כיווני על ישראל, עצירת העברות ציוד צבאי אל קנדה או ממנה), לפי סיכום ישיבת המועצה של העירייה.
